Eye
Drops for Glaucoma May Help Treat Migraines
The beta-blocker eye drop
Timolol or TIMOPTIC® may help relieve migraine headache pain according to
research in JAMA
Neurology. While there are several
beta-blocker medications that can be taken by mouth for migraine, they tend to
work very slowly-sometimes hours or days-and are not terribly helpful for
migraine sufferers. TIMOPTIC® eye drops are very quickly absorbed into the
blood and seem to alleviate
the
pain in most patients with migraines fairly quickly. Research in underway to
determine the best dose and frequency of these eye drop to help those with
migraines.
